Sarah Triolo (she/her/hers)

I am a queer-identifying Postdoctoral Fellow here at CCS. I offer a warm, non-judgmental therapeutic space for students to grow during this exciting and challenging developmental period. I approach therapy from an integrated Adlerian and cognitive-behavioral lens, with influences from other third-wave cognitive-behavioral therapies. This approach allows space for authentic human connection, humor, reflection on how systems play a role in our experiences, and tangible tools to use to create meaningful change.

I feel honored to work with NIU’s diverse student body. I would describe my approach to working with diverse clients as principled by cultural humility, wherein I can acknowledge aspects of culture that I have been academically educated on or have lived experience with, but never lose sight of the unique individual in front of me. I strive to learn about how the unique intersection of identities for my clients has shaped their story and remain committed to lifelong self-examination of my own biases, privileges, and blind spots.

Outside of work, I am usually playing video games, listening to music, watching The Office, collecting Mini Brands, or hanging with my cat, Olive.
